I also took a few pictures with my cellphone during my walk over to meet the Scott Kelby World Wide Photo Walk group. Check them out and some others at Mobservations set.

Leaving Behind

August 30, 2008 By: Emon Category: Emonome No Comments →

People leave people, some by choice and some not. If anyone knows how long it’s supposed to hurt that would make things a bit more bearable, I guess. Some days you miss those times when things were okay and everything you believed in had promise. Other days you successfully ignore the elephant on your lap and pretend you understand why it happened the way it did.

If you ask me, I’d say it’s not fair. And that no one will truly get what you and I go through when we’re sitting alone playing cards with our minds and our past. My advice: don’t insist on having a poker face. You’ll impress no one.

Chinatown: The Photo Walk

August 27, 2008 By: Emon Category: Emonome, Pho-tos 3 Comments →

I’ve always wanted to go take pictures in Chinatown. So when Alessandro picked the area for the Scott Kelby Photo Walk, I was a happy dude. I had a great time. The brunch was good, the company - a lot of fun.

Scott posted our group photo (second pic) on his blog and you can see me front row, second from left (black shirt). The Flickr pool of that walk is up and flying, so check out what some of the other photographers shot.

We could only submit 20 of our favorite shots on the pool. So, this is my full set from the walk.  [recommend this almost-full-screen]

The Weight of Hair

August 25, 2008 By: Emon Category: Emonome 1 Comment →

One other thing happened after the non-balloon ride evening. I came home, went in for a regular one, but came home with a tennis-ball hair cut, meaning just enough to cover the scalp from turning into a reflector. After he was done, the barber smiled and said, “Ah, the gray hair pops now!”

I thought they’d never come back. I don’t know if you’ll believe it when I say this, but I’ve had gray hair since I was a child. But that’s not the unbelievable part; my grayness keeps fluctuating. About 5 years ago, the gray hair challenged the black and almost won the race. Within a year, they were barely visible.

Mm mm. I feel like a weight hath been lifted from my head. Last time I had a crop like this was 3 years ago. I was returning from the AAIFF and was approached by a cop at a subway station.

“Wanna make a quick 20 bucks?”

“Sorry?”

“Stand in a line-up. Make quick 20 bucks.”

“Why me?”

“Oh it’s nothing. You match a description.”

“I do?”

“Yeah, no big deal. You’ll be in and out.”

“No, thank you”

“You sure?”

“Yes, thanks for asking though.”

He held his look for a coupla seconds.

“Cool.”

He bounced. Ran up the steps he descended from 2 minutes before. I noticed I was standing two feet from a camera above me. I’ve since then decided to never combine that hair cut and a Metallica T-Shirt again.

Besides being puzzled about the whole thing, I kept thinking of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer stood in a line-up. And he made $50!
