By The Way, Dumbledore is Gay

by Emon on October 21, 2007

Just this morning I overheard a woman at a Starbucks telling her friend/sister over the phone that all fine looking ‘brothers’ are on the DL. She went on the explain how the famous country singer was rumored to have been dating a football player which is why the ‘cute-faced blonde girl from ‘Show Me The Money’ movie’  left him after a month of marriage.  As I chomped away on my  turkey sandwich (home-made) and a venti coffee, the woman sat across from me and giggled non-stop. She insists most football players are also on the DL and they have ‘gay’ parties all the time.

Two minutes later.

“Amy, amy…you gotta shift your energy to a different channel so you don’t attract the wrong kinda guys. You know it’s not the guys, it’s us. We’re the ones who let them do it to us. These Europeans are into really freaky stuff, but this is NY…I mean this is LA…so it’s not any different either. Some of my friends went to this bar and Sherry [name changed to protect my having a bad memory] went up to talk to this fine looking brother. They were hanging out, having a good time when the guy says, “Yeah, I’ve dated women and all but tonight I’m gonna find me a man.”

She giggled non-stop for another minute (I have to admit, her laughter was infectious). She apologized to ‘Amy’ for doing it at her expense but she hasn’t laughed so hard in such a long time. Before I had to leave to head out to PhotoPlus, “Amy, you’re not feminine at all. You’re masculine. Remember your ex-husband? He was petite and tiny and  you were taller and looked more manlier than him. You know that marriage was doomed.

Who?

(beat)

Noooo! (beat)

Come on, Amy, he was a football player! He was a football play-err!”

Door closes behind me. ‘The Education of Amy’ fades against the morning traffic.

p.s. Oh yes…Dumbledore.
