I [heart] New York - Pt. 2
Anil Dash just posted a few things about visiting New York.
Since stumbling upon My Maps on Google Maps, I’ve been thinking of sharing about all the cool little places I’ve been to over the years. And since I don’t get out much, the list will be manageable. Map’s a work in progress and hopefully will be divided up by sections of the city. I’m finally getting a camera phone - I’ve been with a dinosaur phone for close to 7 years - so pictures of places, people, and oddities might make it on the map as well.
Now that I’ve announced it before actually starting work on the maps, it might probably never get done. I call it the AR (announce/renounce) syndrome episode…in short ARSE.

Um, it would be cool if you could get the whole map done by Friday since I’ll be landing at JFK that evening
Oh yeah, did I tell you? I’ll be in New York for a week! And it would also be cool if you would just cancel your business trip and be my personal tour guide around the city. Come on…it will be fun!
Ok, fine. I’ll show myself around.

Oh, by the way, I do the same thing. Every time I announce (on my blog) that I will do something soon, it never gets done. For instance, when I let people choose what I should write about via Question of the Week. Have I actually written about any of those things? Um, no. Will I? You’ll have to ask your Magic 8 Ball to find out.

Whole map by Friday! Sure I’ll cancel my business trip and be your tour guide. After all, you got me into Stumble Upon, Twitter, Facebook, Pownce, and strong-armed me (ok, recommended me) into moving to a self-hosted site.
Well, tell me how long you’re staying in New York. I bet you’ve tons of appointments and meetings set up in NY. I’ll be back towards the end of the week (Wednesday at the latest). Maybe we can meet up the following weekend. I’d love to buy you coffee and thank you personally. Weekdays are tough because I am, as Joe Drinker puts it, cubicle-dwelling.
You should check out the first “I [heart] new york” post on my blog for some cool events. I’m sure you already know of the farmer’s market on Union Square.
