Open-Source Hollywood?

by Emon on May 20, 2008

It seems like it. The recent deal being made with an Indian billionaire is huge and Hollywood will likely open more doors to others with money. I’m surprised film productions are not already being outsourced; a nice chunk of television commercials have always been produced outside of the States. India’s UTV is, in conjunction with biggies in Hollywood, is coming out with a bunch of films this year, including Shyamalan’s ‘The Happening’.

It was right about a century ago when Hollywood started to become Hollywood. The industry was shaped by people who came from around the world. It’s just that now, they don’t have to relocate.

Does that mean more films by people of color? If not now…
