Personal Mission Statement

September 23, 2007

Joe over at Fourbux sent out this BlogSignal about creating a personal mission statement. I’ve always seen personal and career mission statements as one but separating the two is as important as having any at all. Okay, I’ll keep mine short.

  1. I’ll not – or try my best not to – let little things that have no merit ruin my days.
  2. I’ll manage my sleep routine better. I’ve seen it affect #1 when there’s a lack of it.
  3. I’ll learn to be a bit more patient when it comes to waiting. I hate waiting.
  4. I’ll learn to use my personal time more economically.
  5. I’ll not let my day job convince me life revolves around 9 to 5 -ers.
  6. I’ll let happiness find me and stay with me without making me doubt its intentions.
  7. I’ll work hard at what I love to do best.
  8. I’ll work hard at what I have committed myself to and not hold back.
  9. I’ll complain less about how life is unfair whereas life hasn’t been unfair with my performance results.
  10. I’ll make sure I know what I meant by #9 when I look back at these statements some time from now.
  11. I’ll make sure I don’t hurt anyone who doesn’t deserve to be hurt.
  12. I’ll admit to my mistakes and keep my ego on check.
  13. I’ll learn to embrace those who love me for who I am and not find ways to push them away from me.
  14. I’ll learn to take compliments better.
  15. I’ll work hard to make life better for when I’m not, and not work hard to work harder in chasing a good life.
  16. I’ll learn to simplify my writing – including ‘omit needless words’ – and keep things short when I start a mission statement with “Okay, I’ll keep mine short”

Wait. Life doesn’t revolve around 9 to 5-ers?

Hmmm, seems I misread the brochure.

Good list.
