Darkness in Coney Island
You never know where will your next inspiration come from. I sat down to have late lunch yesterday. What will I do with my eyes? I have to have them look at something. I’d downloaded a series of Photoshop tutorials and decided to watch this particular episode. There were couple of pictures in there that blew me away; beautiful stuff! [Mark’s Ref Guide to Layers episode is a must for any PS beginner]
Usually I’d watch tutorials like this as a movie: “Oh, so that’s how they do it” and then done. I never attempt to give the techniques a try. This time I got up , picked up my camera, and shot a few cloud pics outside my window. I had to use clouds for something.
An hour later, after finding this rather bland Astroland photo, I ended up with this.
The ‘300′ -like effect happened unintentionally. At some point I tried the ‘Multiply’ blend mode and there it was. Man, you can’t mess with happy accidents!
Mm mm…that felt good and totally made my weekend. ![]()

Fun. I thought a tornado of some sort had hit Brooklyn, until I read the explanation.

Thank you, Dee!
My original title was ‘300 Coney Island’. I don’t know why I thought the current one was cooler. Anyway.

That’s awesome. Much better with the “drama” filter applied.
