Next Stop, GrandCentral

by Emon on July 10, 2007

Just opened my GrandCentral account. Very cool, and can’t wait to see what Google plans to do with it. You probably already know that you can call businesses with a click right from Google Maps. It connects your phone with the phone you’re calling. The voicemail works like email inbox - you get calls and they are archived there for you to listen, forward, reply or whatever you fancy. You can embed ‘call’ buttons on your blog, site so your readers can call you with a click. Most of us don’t like to put our phone numbers up on our blogs, but someone like Robert Scoble would love this service.

You can pick phone numbers of your choosing. However, don’t expect to find 212s or 718s, if you’re a New Yorker. I got a 347 area code. I ran out of Invites (you can up to 10 from your account) within minutes. Mr. Scoble was sent one :) I’d like to put the button on my blog so people can leave me messages but not before I explore further. Meanwhile visit the site.

So guess what Google just bought.
