Loving Flickr’s new photo editing feature. Came in handy when I had to adjust color on the middle photo on my First Snow post. It was too white and looked odd between the other two and I’m too lazy to go back to iPhoto and correct it. There is a minor drawback. Although Flickr ‘replaces’ the photo once you’ve decided to after editing, your photo on someone’s blog might ‘disappear’ stating ‘Photo not available’ or some such. If someone else is linking to your photo, it’ll be a goner.
I’ve uploaded my NY Minute on Google Video and noticed their new feature that lets you comment on specific sections of the video by simply typing the comment and the time code of the video. So, for example, if you leave a comment like “Lol! That giant Elmo looks stoned! 2:12″ others will click on the 2:12 link to that specific section of the video. Cool, right? I can already envision all the cool things you can do starting with this feature - link to maps, photos, camera information, lighting etc. To take it even further: companies can place AdWord ads on specific sections of a video. Therefore, at 2:12, ads for the latest Elmo toys, or TV listing of Sesame Street. Or, at 0:32 of my video, link to the store where winter clothing is on sale.
I know…that could be annoying as hell but content owners, that way, have the opportunity to make some dough. I’d much rather see a clip from famous films and have comments by filmmakers on sections much like DVD commentaries. I’ve left a couple of comments on my video about parts I liked as they’ve turned out.

Didn’t even know about the new Flickr photo editing and I’m on flickr several times a day. Hmmmm…good thing I read your blog. I’ve heard that Picnik does a decent job for online editing but haven’t tried it out. But, like you mentioned, sometimes after I upload a photo I realize I want to tweak something. But I’m always too lazy to actually replace the photo so it just stays like that. This way will be much easier. Checked out your video on Google and it was cool to read your comments and then be able to go directly to the parts of the video that you were commenting on!
