Hello there. I have this interview helpful and very informative.
Syd Field is admired by the whole industry as the BEST. Glad he was able to share these thoughts with us.
As a aspiring writer though from the island of Barbados; my question is how do I impact on the movie world in the USA as the USA is the leader of the movie industry, everyone aspires to be part of your programme. How can Caribbean writers get into the system? Dealing with agents, producers, etc? I think I have many great ideas for screenplays and I am working on them, but we are only now beginning to create avenues to make movies here.
So in order to get our work even looked at, it seems that we in the Caribbean islands need to break into the USA.

Thank you, Sakura! I've always found reading interviews with writers frustrating because the interviewer does not ask questions that a writer would benefit from. It had to stop. :)

Happy to know the interview helped. Please check out the other interviews with writers. http://emonome.com/emon-interviews/

I also recommend this excellent video series:

Perhaps the best one done for writers.

As an aspiring screenwriter myself, I found the article shot right to the core of what the product of a Screenwriter is and how to attain it. I found this to be the most informative article I've ever read and I'm glad to know Mr. Field is a humanitarian too. I find genuine and honest humanitarians to be very rare these days. I'd like to meet him.
