Faith & Some More

by Emon Hassan on May 20, 2009

Rejections are never welcome. Upon reflection, when some time have passed, they look like stepping stones to better things. As they’re happening, you wish to disappear and not embarrass yourself further with your ‘dreams’. The quote marks only come off when they come true. Robert Pirsig’s ‘Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance’ was rejected by 121 publishers. Fucking wow!

I have to stay the course and try to maintain my faith in myself. And some day the tables will turn, the winds will change, and I’ll have the last laugh. I’m good with names and have a talent for remembering those who’ve fucked with me, rejected me, or ignored me completely. Like I said, I’ll have the last laugh. Till then, it will be a bittersweet adventure.

Clarity is highly priced and rarely attainable if you’re short-sighted. Every little thing becomes an obstacle. Every little letter a large black island. To go forward in some aspects of life, I find it’s very necessary to move back from others. The letters, you’ll find only then, make up a sentence that completes a thought. You’ve moved back, but you’ve moved up. A tiny example of which.

I realized Strunk & White always had the answer to my misery. “Omit needless words.” All I have to do is rephrase as “Omit needless _____” and apply it to the wounds.

Confession is good for the soul. Fucking is even better.
