Tim Russert and Happy Father’s Day

by Emon Hassan on June 16, 2008

You might have not known I’d gone to Buffalo this past weekend. That’s not news anyway. I was there on Friday, sitting and waiting for my food – taking pictures of what I thought was an unusual news reading experience – at the Smokey Bones BBQ when I noticed a scroll on CNN announcing Tim Russert had died. I was away from TV, radio, and Internet the whole day so hadn’t any clue what had happened. I didn’t know how to respond to it; didn’t want to believe it at first. I don’t know if I’ve been shocked at the news of a TV personality’s death the way I have at this. The second thing that crossed my mind was…this.

I didn’t know at the time that Russert was from Buffalo and I was sitting 13 minutes away from the school he went to.

I didn’t want to post anything about Father’s Day. Doing it last year was tough enough. But I couldn’t just not share this clip with you.

This post is dated a day late…just to say that it’s never a day late. Happy Father’s Day!
