I couldn’t possibly agree more.
As a musician who, for many years, chose to play forms such as heavy metal or punk, I ran into the “that’s not music, that’s noise” crowd. No, asswipes. It’s music. Just because your weak brains can’t access it, that doesn’t mean it’s not art.
I never dare to tell anyone that what they’re doing is or isn’t whatever genre label they choose to use. I have the right to decide whether or not I like it, but not to define it.
