Ron had prepared dinner for the family that night – roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, veggies, etc. They had the best cheesecake in town for dessert and played video games after. The youngest, Caroline, tried to work her cuteness to get Ron to buy her a toy she’s wanted her “whole life.” He said, “We’ll see.” After the kids went to bed, Ron and Kate shared an expensive bottle of wine.
Kate: Are you going to tell me what’s this all about?
Ron: Later.
Kate: They’re coming to work on the kitchen on Monday.
Ron: Ok.
Kate: (pointing to wine bottle) This was expensive, wasn’t it?
Ron: Not really, no.
Kate: Karla has been acting strangely the past couple of days. Have you noticed?
Ron: No, why?
Kate: Maybe her mother knows.
Ron: Ok. (he put down his drink).
Kate: (she noticed, but…) I think I’m gonna get to bed. Tired.
Ron: Good night.
Kate: Can you get the lights when you’re done?
