Moira’s Fable: The Letter

January 15, 2010

in emonome

Moira sat at the piano after hanging up on Ron; not the way she’d planned on starting the week. She opened the letter she’d received an hour prior to Ron’s call – again.

Dear Sister,

Hope you’re well. I would have liked to have seen you before I die. Getting sicker by the day. Things have not gone well for either of us, but I have never forgotten the sacrifice you’ve made for me. I was happy to gain a life I did not think I could ever have. But I have not had peace of mind knowing how it had brought misfortune to yours.

I’m not sure I’ll make it past the new year. Wish you’d seen my children. Albert visited two weeks ago. He said my soul was free to go and that he’d not hold grudge against me. He looked old, and tired.

Hope you’ll forgive me about Brent someday.

Yours,

S.

There was a telephone number in that letter for Moira to call, if she wanted to. She did, 3 days later. But Sena had already died.
