Recently found this blog and checked out the trailer for upcoming The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford with Brad Pitt in the title role and Casey Affleck in the…um title role as well. I’d seen the old trailer which didn’t do much for me, but this new one is making me want to see the film at a theatre. I’ve noticed by visiting related forums and blogs that others feel the same way.
Here’s a prediction. Roger Deakins will win his first Oscar for ‘Assassination…” Looking at his body of work, it’s not hard for me make the statement that he is one of the best cinematographers of all time. He has been nominated 5 times but this time the Oscar is his. How the fuck can I predict that? As usual, my hunch. Remember my blind Oscar 2007 predictions? You know I got it going on…mm mm mm. Then again, he doesn’t need the bloody Oscar to prove anything. But it would be nice.
Anyway, watch this YouTube-d trailer and judge for yourself. The film is directed by Kiwi/Aussie Andrew Dominik of ‘Chopper’ (Eric Bana) fame. If you’re a film buff like me, I’d suggest skipping the YouTube version and check out the trailer in HD.
