Them, iTunes, and Dupri

Jermaine Dupri’s recent post on HuffPo about iTunes and the music industry didn’t go so well with some, and some. I’m guessing he’s giving blogging a hand to promote his new book – which, by the way, didn’t go so well with some, either.

The post, if I chimed in here, is a rant wannabe that runs too long. There are gems like ‘If anything, WE made iTunes’ or ‘So if we as artists, producers and label executives stand up, those guys at Apple can either cooperate, or have nothing for people to buy and download on their iPods.’ I’m just scratching the surface here. My fellow bloggers (linked above) have gone in-depth with Dupri’s insane criticism of Apple. His ‘plug ins and stuff’ paragraph is a knee-slapper.

Mr. Dupri, you’ve been declared the most successful R&B producer by 2007 Guiness Book of World Records (a little blurb says so at the end of your post). I’d say wrong timing with a rant like this. It’s a free country, I know. But please make some sense.

Jermaine Dupri is a talented producer, and I wish him all the best, but Ho-Ly Christ! The man has been on top for so long he has forgotten what it’s like to be a consumer. Keep up the good work, Emon!

I’m off to buy all kinds of plug-ins, because my Mac just isn’t workin’ right.
