They Got ‘U’ Covered

Every Karaoke bar I’ve had the ‘pleasure’ of going to in the past year has someone coughing her lungs out to this Kelly Clarkson song. Someone’s really not happy to see ‘U’ gone, dude! So I Googled ‘Since U Been Gone a capella’ – just because – and lo…this baby is a hit with not only women, and men, but also with a capella groups. The song is mighty catchy, I’ll admit, and has attained some sort of an anthem status among women and men scorned.

UCLA Scatter Tones did the best a capella version, in my opinion. There are other university groups too but they sucked balls.

Ted Leo’s version speeds things up and mixes in Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ ‘Maps.’ Someone, however, decided to correct the title of the song in the video. Asshole!

You always put such random things on here! I actually watched both of these videos…liked the a capella group but wasn’t a huge fan of the girl singing lead. The Ted Leo version was definitely catchy…reminded me of Jimmy Eat World a bit. Now I’m gonna have that song in my head all day. Great.

By the way, what do YOU sing at the karaoke bars?

haha…well…I do try to avoid any singing for the love of humanity but they say you have to sing one song to be left alone. But as is the case I end up doing more because if you’ve jumped in the ocean, you might as well swim a little. My ‘fondest’ memory is an attempt to sing ‘sexyback’, an ambush my co-workers you could say. They laughed so hard I felt I was William Hung out to dry.

Ted Leo has always been and will always be, the shit. Never been a fan of the song in the first place, but this guy could play anything and I’d like it.
